Applebee's is marketed as a neighborhood place, welcoming of everyone. At a location in Plant City, FL, that was anything but the truth for a cook who worked in the kitchen. Gabriel was experiencing frequent harassment regarding his race and sexual orientation. In this episode of HR Stories, John and Chuck will discuss how Gabriel's work environment fell into the classification of unlawful harassment and how to handle these situations from an HR perspective.

Chuck and John also discuss current HR issues including - the future of HR, dress codes in the workplace, and OSHA violations.

The viewpoints expressed by the characters in the stories are not necessarily that of The Team at HR Stories. The stories are shared to present various, real-world scenarios and share how they were handled by policy and, at times, law. Chuck and John are not lawyers and always recommend working with an employment lawyer to address concerns.
